Whitesnake will perform for one night only at The Pavilion at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek on Friday, August 2 at 9 p.m. The concert will open with special guests Red Line Chemistry. Tickets go on sale on Sunday, June 2 at 8 a.m.
Whitesnake, fronted by Deep Purple vocalist David Coverdale, emerged on the music scene in 1977. Fairly popular in Europe and Japan, the band didn’t hit the American mainstream until 1984’s Slide It In – its first platinum album. Three years later, Whitesnake released an eponymous album (titled 1987 in Europe) that featured the hits “Still of the Night,” “Here I Go Again” and the power ballad, “Is This Love.” Whitesnake was an enormous international success, selling over six million copies in the United States alone. The follow-up, 1989’s Slip of the Tongue, brought in guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and another platinum record with the hit “Fool For Your Loving.” Putting Whitesnake on hiatus after that album, in 1993, Coverdale collaborated with former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. A greatest hits compilation was also released focusing solely on material from their final three albums (as well as containing a few unreleased tracks).
In 1997, Coverdale resurrected Whitesnake with former guitarist Adrian Vandenberg and issued Restless Heart outside the United States. After several years of solo work, Coverdale released Into the Light in 2000 that featured journeyman guitarist Earl Slick. After a lengthy hiatus that saw the release of countless “greatest-hits” and “live” collections, the band returned in 2008 with the impressive Good to Be Bad. Coverdale and Whitesnake toured the album throughout Europe and Japan.
The band returned to the recording studio in 2010 with new members bassist Michael Devin (formerly of Lynch Mob) and drummer Brian Tichy, who appeared alongside guitarists Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach. Their eleventh studio album, Forevermore, was released in 2011 and reached no. 5 on the Top Hard Rock Albums. Before heading out on the Forevermore World Tour 2011, they decided to record every performance on the tour.
In April of this year, the Whitesnake: Made in Japan DVD was released. Inspired by the performances from the nine sold-out UK shows and a further 87 performances from around the world, the live albums Made in Britain and the accompanying The World Record were born. Whitesnake will release the double live album, Made in Britain – The World Record, on July 9. Musicians on the albums include David Coverdale (vocals), Doug Aldrich (guitars), Reb Beach (guitars), Michael Devin (bass), Brian Tichy (drums) and special guest Brian Ruedy (keyboards).
Red Line Chemistry was formed in Kansas City, Mo, in 2004. Members include Tom Brown (bass, vocals), Mike Mazzarese (percussion), Dave Fyten (guitar, vocals), Andrew Breit (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Brett Ditgen (lead vocals). Since the hard rock band released its full-length debut album, Chemical Hand & a Hand Grenade, in 2006, they have enjoyed continued success. Red Line Chemistry has performed with Stone Temple Pilots, Puddle of Mudd, Godsmack, Three Days Grace and many others. They’ve also played at Kansas City Rockfest and Warped Tour. Their latest album, Tug of War, was released in May 2013 and was produced by Grammy-award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz who has worked with Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters and the Deftones.
