The film releases in theaters only on December 25. Unique vinyl LP editions of the soundtrack are now available for pre-order across retail.

Featuring a stellar, Critics Choice Awards-nominated ensemble cast embodied by Golden Globe nominee Fantasia’s soulful melodies, Taraji P. Henson’s emotive depth, Colman Domingo’s captivating energy, Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominee Danielle Brooks’ powerful resonance, H.E.R.’s contemporary artistry, and Halle Bailey’s radiant vocals, and music from Grammy Award-winning songwriters of The Color Purple musical – Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray – present a musical experience that’s both nostalgic and completely new.

The Color Purple (Music From And Inspired By), the biggest R&B soundtrack in decades, boasts 17 songs from the film, 16 newly penned songs and four remixes. New songs from the collection, including Alicia Keys’ stunning Lifeline and the soulful duet from USHER & H.E.R., Risk It All, showcase how the new music has been inspired by the emotional journey experienced in the film.

Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Keyshia Cole, Coco Jones, Jorja Smith, Celeste, Mary Mary, October London and more are also featured on songs that capture the essence of the film’s message of deep family connection, resilience and unconditional love.

Special remixes from the masters of the art, Missy Elliot featuring Megan Thee Stallion and Timbaland featuring Black Thought, elevate their signature sounds to magnify the soul of the original songs.

Enhancing the story’s connection with Africa, Darkchild highlights the indigenous sounds of the continent with his Afro-beats and Amapiano-imbued original composition, which features a Nigerian choir and the vocals of emerging Nigerian singer Konstance. Mörda, the celebrated South African artist/producer, brings his mastery of 3 Step/Amapiano and Afro house to his remix.

And finally, there’s the crescendo moment embodied by the film’s sweeping end credit song, “SUPERPOWER (I),” written and produced by lauded hitmaker The-Dream and performed by the film’s transcendent north star, Fantasia.

The creative engine for the project includes the film’s executive music producers, Grammy-winning film composer Nick Baxter, Tony-nominated composer and lyricist Stephen Bray, and multimedia artist Blitz Bazawule who, in addition to directing The Color Purple, was co-director on Beyoncé’s Black is King.

Additionally, the album is produced by Bazawule, Scott Sanders, one of the film’s producers, and gamma. co-founder & CEO Larry Jackson.
