Comedian Wanda Sykes comes to Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Thursday, May 9, at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m. Fans can access presale tickets beginning Thursday, March 14, at 10 a.m. through Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood’s Facebook and Twitter pages. American Express cardholders can purchase tickets beginning Wednesday, March 13, at 10 a.m. The show’s content is intended for mature audiences.

Sykes is an Emmy Award-winning stand-up comic, writer, actress and producer who has been entertaining audiences for more than 20 years. Sykes recently filmed her fifth stand-up special, which will debut on Netflix May 2019. She has been on the road with “The Oh Well Tour” since 2018. Her role on ABC’s “Black-ish” has earned her two back-to-back Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

In addition to her time on “Black-ish,” Sykes spent five years on the CBS sitcom “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” co-starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, as well as HBO’s critically acclaimed “The Chris Rock Show,” which earned her two Emmy nominations and one win. Sykes has also appeared in “Broad City,” “House of Lies,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and many more hit television shows. Other TV credits include FOX’s “Wanda at Large,” which she wrote, produced and starred in; “Wanda Does It” on Comedy Central; and “Crank Yankers” which she voiced the role of Gladys Murphy. Sykes also hosted her own late-night talk show on FOX, “The Wanda Sykes Show.”

In 2017, Sykes was in the feature comedy “Snatched,” opposite Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. She also appeared in “Evan Almighty,” in which she co-starred with Steve Carell, the cult-hit “Monster-In-Law” with Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez; “My Super Ex-Girlfriend;” “Pootie Tang;’” “Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps;” “Down to Earth” and many more. Sykes has also voiced characters in the animated feature films, “Ice Age: Collision Course,” Ice Age: Continental Drift,” “Over the Hedge,” The Barnyard” and the children’s shows “Vampira” and “Doc McStuffins.”

Sykes has had four prior comedy specials: 2016’s “What Happened…Ms. Sykes?,” which premiered on Epix; 2009’s “Wanda Sykes: I’ma Be Me” on HBO, which was nominated for two Primetime Emmy awards; HBO’s 2006 comedy special “Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired,” nominated for a 2007 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special and her first, 2003’s “Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied,” which premiered on Comedy Central. Her stand-up has tackled everything from politics and marriage to racial profiling and parenting.
