Celebrate the Vizcaya Café and Shop’s Grand Opening with fun and interesting events planned for the month of October!

 

The Vizcaya Café and Shop is open daily, 10:00 a.m. to

5:00 p.m., except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, with paid museum admission to Vizcaya. Membership in The Vizcayans offers free admission to the property, including the Café and Shop. Members also enjoy a 10% discount at the Café and Shop.

Tea on the Terrace

Spend a nostalgic afternoon sipping Vizcaya Café and Shop’s own Tapestry Tea Blend, complete with warm scones, clotted cream, jam and honey, while enjoying the serene view of Biscayne Bay. Your $12 fee includes our tea service and a 10% discount on gift tins of Tapestry Tea.

The Tea on the Terrace fee does not include paid admission to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Syltbar Gourmet Food Tasting

Saturdays, October 8 and 22, 2011

2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

$10 Tasting Fee, plus paid admission to Vizcaya

Sample gourmet food products imported to the U.S. by Syltbar, including sea salt from Portugal, pepper from India, balsamic vinegar from Modena and olive oil from Bisceglie, Italy. The $10 tasting fee includes a glass of Italian Prosecco in a keepsake Vizcaya flute and 10% off beautifully packaged Syltbar items.
Deering Wine Tasting

Sample Deering Wines, made in California’s Sonoma County by Miami pioneer Charles Deering’s great-great granddaughter. The tasting includes four varietals and a limited edition Vizcaya/ Deering wine glass.

 

Street Painting Demonstration

Artist Jane Portaluppi Durand magically transforms ordinary pavement into classic works of art. Street painting is an art form that has been recorded in Italy since the 16th century.

John Bowen, an accomplished local watercolorist, will be creating a new original watercolor on the property and displaying his originals and prints all weekend. Come by to ask him a question or pick up a giclee print at 10% off.

12:30 – 4:30 p.m.; event is free with paid admission to Vizcaya

Members of the Biscayne Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America will be demonstrating their craft. Reproductions of the “moths and butterflies” pattern in James Deering’s bathroom ceiling canopy are available for purchase in “Do-It-Yourself” cross-stitch kits.
