For over 50 years and with a global presence in more than 62 countries, this fashion house has mastered the art of living in the sun with its luxury swimwear, clothing, and accessories. And when fashion and art meet on the beach, you find an intersection that pushes the boundaries of creativity.
That intersection finds itself this year on the sands of Miami Beach, as we introduce you to Vilebrequin, one of the Official Partners of Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2022.
In 2015, Vilebrequin began collaborating with artists on swimsuit designs— One notable mention is Derrick Adams, a Brooklyn-based artist whose renowned Floater series launched as limited-edition swim shorts in 2020. Previously, paintings in Adams’ Floater series were exhibited at Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2017. Adams is also the Founder of The Last Resort Artist Retreat, one of Untitled Art’s Premier Prize Partners, furnishing a residency in 2023 to one exhibiting artist at the fair this year of African descent from Latin America and the Caribbean.
And Vilebrequin’s collaborative efforts with artists continue today, as they recently joined forces with renowned Swiss contemporary art publisher JRP | Editions on a new venture. This venture, which will provide artists with a platform at the nexus of art and fashion, will see acclaimed artists partnering with the brand. The Artist Editions by Vilebrequin and JRP | Editions currently feature artists Kenny Scharf, John M. Armleder, and Sylvie Fleury.
At this year’s edition of Untitled Art, as part of our Official Partnership with Vilebrequin, you’ll find works of art turned fashion from each of these collaborations presented and available to shop at the Vilebrequin Partners Booth (P3).
Attendees will also get a first-look opportunity at a limited-edition, to-be-announced artist collaboration Vilebrequin and JRP | Editions are unveiling in-person at Untitled Art this year— This will be the only chance to see this exciting collection in person before it launches in stores and online in 2023.
