VAN ALPERT, THE ARTIST WHO TURNS STREET ART INTO FINE ART, EXHIBITS IN WYNWOOD

Van Alpert, multimedia artist and film director, took his bold statements and sharp black lines through the streets of Los Angeles and New York, and now has finally returned to his hometown Miami for his first solo exhibition titled BLACK i.

“I am coming into this exhibition with my all, making a statement. I want to make a big impression and hit this as hard as I can, ultimately leaving my mark on the art scene. This is a new day and I’m coming in strong,” mentions the edgy artist, Alpert, at the opening of his exhibition. The exhibition, which centers on the concept of leaving a statement and making a mark, is now showing in Wynwood at 297 NW 26 Street, Miami, FL, 33127. The show will be now through November 17, 2014. Doors are open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

By working with materials from set production and reusing sharp black lines onto canvas, Alpert innovatively transfers graffiti into fine art. He is turning what some film sets regard as temporary objects into everlasting, artful treasures. The colors found in his artwork carry a sensual confidence that strike the viewer and add to the already impactful imagery. His unique artistic approach is a reminder that elegance can still exist in our modern society. In his multimedia pieces, he merges old Hollywood images with contemporary stylistic methods that adhere to a young, hip generation. His emphasis is on fostering a connection to the past while relating to the present moment, such as the old meeting the new.

The emerging artist has worked in the film industry as an editor, writer and PA conceptualizing. He has created noteworthy pieces in various artistic mediums including sculpture, painting and graffiti.
