CORAL GABLES, FL – (October 29, 2009) The University of Miami will celebrate one of the cultural and social highlights for the Americas, Art Basel Miami Beach, with events hosted by the Lowe Art Museum and the College of Arts and Sciences running concurrently from December 3rd – 6th.

On campus, The Lowe Art Museum will host the LoweDown, Holiday Dreams at the Lowe!, a first Thursday Happy Hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on December 3rd. Hear about the quirky world captured in glass (“Ricky Bernstein: Kitchen Dreams”) by the artist himself. An artist lecture presented by Ricky Bernstein will be held at 6 pm. Enjoy holiday desserts with beverages by Barefoot Wine and Bubbly and PAMA Spirits. Admission is $10 and free for Lowe Members, Art Basel VIP holders and exhibitors.

The Lowe Art Museum will also present its Annual Art Basel Champagne Brunch on Sunday, December 6th from 9:30 a.m. to noon. This year’s exclusive event features the exhibition “Ricky Bernstein: Kitchen Dreams” with a one-of-a-kind tour of the exhibition by the artist at 9:30 a.m. with a brunch from 10 a.m. – noon. This event is restricted to Upper Level Lowe Members and Art Basel VIP card holders and exhibitors. The Lowe Art Museum is located on UM’s Coral Gables campus at 1301 Stanford Drive. Also on view at the Coral Gables campus, The University of Miami Sculpture Garden highlights sculptures placed outside at various locations around the campus. More than two dozen sculptures by respected artists serve to delight and engage members of the University community and visitors.
