The volume of chatter grows, the temperature rises, and the buzz in the room grows palpable. A flicker, then darkness as the house lights descend—the anticipation, the excitement that an entire crowd is about to experience something unknown, together. It’s a feeling fans of Umphrey’s McGee chase night after night. The Band’s constantly evolving sound channels a wide spectrum of influences while still preserving their distinct voice through crafty songwriting. With a massive repertoire of originals and note-perfect covers, their live shows are like flipping through the presets on your radio dial. Their A.D.D. approach to “progressive improvisation” utilizes a set of Zappa inspired hand signals allowing them to orchestrate their melodic creations on the fly. The music of Umphrey’s McGee unfolds like an unpredictable conversation between longtime friends. A call of progressive guitar wizardry might elicit a response of soft acoustic balladry, or a funk groove could be answered by explosive percussion. At any moment, heavy guitars can give way to heavier blues as the boys uncover the elusive nexus between jaw-dropping instrumental virtuosity and airtight songcraft. They are sure to include selections from their latest release: YOU WALKED UP SHAKING IN YOUR BOOTS BUT YOU STOOD TALL AND LEFT A RAGING BULL. Ticket prices for Thursday, December 30th are $50.00 for Reserved Seats and $39.50 for General Admission; For New Year’s Eve Friday, December 31st Reserved Seats are $100.00 and General Admission is $75.00; and for Saturday January 1st Reserved Seats are $60.00 and General Admission $45.00. A Special 3 Night General Admission ticket is available for $159.50. Showtime each night is 8:30PM and Mad Dog’s Dirty Little Secret is the opener.
