Trina Braxton On The Braxton Family Values @TrinaBraxton

WE TV’s new 10 episode, one-hour original series, BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES follows the Braxton family around to set the record straight on Toni Braxton’s highly publicized life.

In a family with six highly opinionated woman there is bound to be drama.

Daedrian McNaughton caught up with Trina Braxton, “the Wildcard” of the sisters who marches to the beat of her own drum.  Trina all but tunes out her sisters’ judgment and is determined to find happiness on her own terms.  That sometimes means hitting the bottle a little too hard and finding herself in potentially dangerous situations – including a DUI arrest near her mom’s church!  Will an intervention give Trina the support she desires or push her further away from her judgmental sisters?

Like their famous sister Toni Braxton, Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar were all blessed with the gift of song and shared that gift as a group called “The Braxtons,” managed by their mom Evelyn.  Fast forward a few years, and Toni Braxton is a megastar with hit song after hit song and too many accolades to count; Traci has an unexpected pregnancy; Towanda decides to pursue acting; Trina becomes backup for Toni and a “wedding singer;” and Tamar strikes out on her own to chase her rising star.  Mom Evelyn also experienced change when she divorced the love of her life, the girls’ father, for his chronic philandering. With their worlds turned upsidedown, and the meteoric rise of Toni’s fame, the family had to dramatically adjust to life after stardom.

“Braxton Family Values” (Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT) on WE TV

Was it challenging for you to be filmed constantly?

Trina Braxton: It’s definitely challenging sometimes to have someone following you and inviting them into every aspect of your life. But I found it to be very, very cleansing and it helped us to become really closer as sisters and as family. So we enjoyed the challenge to a certain degree.

Were you tired of being around your sisters so often?

Trina Braxton: We’ve worked together our whole lives and we never get tired of being — wait, wait, wait don’t make me lie. We do get tired of being around each other sometimes but it’s comforting to know that you’re around people that you can trust and that you can still have fun with.

Did your mother Evelyn do a good job raising all of you?

Trina Braxton: Yes she definitely keeps us honest and she is the glue that kind of keeps the whole family together if you really want to know the truth. I think a lot of our strength in our personalities definitely came from her and it’s really an attribute to have because she keeps us grounded and she keeps us together.

Did filming the series change your relationship with your family?

Trina Braxton: It did, it definitely did. We were able to actually get past a lot of our issues unlike other people.

Did Toni’s success put any pressure on you or did she share her success with you?

Trina Braxton: When Toni reached her superstar status she always made sure that we were with her sharing in her stardom a long with her. We’re very thankful for that.

Was there any jealousy towards your sister’s success?

Trina Braxton: Absolutely never.  We are so proud of her and her accomplishments, Toni with the selfless nature that she has all throughout her career she always made sure that we were with her or still trying to find some way to accomplish our goals along the way. So we are very, very proud of her and we thank her and we support her and we support each other.

What is it like to film with family instead of complete strangers?

Trina Braxton: The major difference is that we’re not in a household full of women that we don’t know. We are with our sisters and with that being said we are forced to address whatever issues that we had and we are forced to get along because we are family.

What do you think the fans will think of the show?

Trina Braxton: They want to see a real person.

Spread the love!
