Tri-Rail, South Florida’s premier commuter rail system, will present a “Safety Fair” on Saturday, May 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Metrorail Transfer Station (2601 E 11th Ave, Hialeah, FL 33013). The event aims to bring residents and visitors together in a family-friendly environment while emphasizing the importance of safety.

Hosted by Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado, the event will feature esteemed local partners such as Larkin Hospital, Helbiz, Branches, and the City of Hialeah Parks & Recreation Department, that will showcase their valuable contributions to the region and share safety information. In addition, attendees will enjoy live music by Catabella Duo, photos with Tri-Rail’s mascot George Green, plus giveaways. Nick’s Burgers Food Truck will have food and drinks available for purchase.

“SFRTA is excited to offer our friends and neighbors the opportunity to get acquainted with Tri-Rail and local community partners,” said Commissioner Raquel Regalado, SFRTA Governing Board chair. “Following in the footsteps of our successful ‘Rail Fun Day’ event, we look further to activating more community events and spreading the message of railroad safety.”

Eventgoers are encouraged to ride the train to the event with all-day weekend fares at just $5 and free for kids under 5.

According to Operation Lifesaver, Inc., a nationally recognized nonprofit organization and leader of rail safety education, a person or vehicle is hit by a train every 3 hours in the U.S. Tri-Rail’s “Safety Fair” will be a great day to promote the benefits of the train system, while reminding the general public of the dangers involved with not being safe along railroad tracks.
