THE WOMEN’S BREAST & HEART INITIATIVE ANNUAL PINK WALK GOES VIRTUAL IN ITS FOURTH YEAR

The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI) will host its fourth annual Pink Walk as a virtual event, and leading into breast cancer awareness month.

Pink Walk – The Virtual Movement invites consumers to participate remotely betweenSeptember 20 – 27, any time and place, to raise awareness on the importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer, while raising funds to provide breast health education and screenings.

“With COVID-19, common risk factors have been identified including having any type of cancer, obesity, along with heart disease, hypertension and high blood pressure. Amid the pandemic, breast cancer and heart disease have not been postponed and early detection helps beat the odds, states Andrea Ivory, WBHI’s Founder and Executive Director. Our annual Pink Walk helps raise funds for access to preventive care and education on breast healthy habits.”

Each year, and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  Despite remarkable advances in treatment and a greater focus on prevention, breast cancer remains one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers among American women, and it remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths.

Participants of WBHI Pink Walk – The Virtual Movement are invited to take a two-mile remote walk around their neighborhood, or at the park, beach and to spread the word among friends, family, and the community at large, while challenging three other people to join in. . Participants are also empowered to play an active role in helping to save and change lives through personal sponsors and raise a minimum of $50 to receive a special fundraising medal, while contributing to the $20,000 fundraising goal.

The walk can take place anywhere and anytime between Sunday, September 20 through Sunday, September 27. The cost for thePink Walk Registration is $25.00, plus $4.50 signup fee. All proceeds will benefit The Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative.
