We’re off to see The Wizard of Oz, as Miami Children’s Museum hosts the debut of the first ever officially licensed and sanctioned traveling educational exhibit based on the beloved film classic. The Wizard of Oz Educational Exhibit opens on Saturday, January 30th.

Created by MCM and licensed and sanctioned by Warner Bros. Consumer Products, this interactive fantasy adventure takes children and families over the rainbow and into the movie itself.  It celebrates the 70th Anniversary and Re-mastered Blu-ray release of one of the most memorable films of all time. And you don’t need to ride a tornado to get there.  Just come to Miami Children’s Museum, on Watson Island, at 980 MacArthur Causeway.

The Wizard of Oz Educational Exhibition is a journey of self-discovery for the whole family! Guests travel from the sepia-toned Gale Farm to the colorful Land of Oz, where they explore Munchkinland, The Crossroads, The Witch’s Castle, and Emerald City before sliding back down the rainbow to Miami, because, of course, “There’s no place like home.”

Along the way everyone will experience the adventures of Dorothy and her friends as they find their way back to true happiness.  Elements of the movie available ONLY in this licensed exhibition include Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers, blue gingham dress, and real classic movie stills.

Visit Professor Marvel’s Wagon and create your own tornado in Dorothy’s bedroom.  Explore Munchkin houses.  Meet Dorothy’s friends Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and The Tin Man.  Enter Emerald City and create a “horse of a different color”, play at the kaleidoscope and prism stations, but “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.”   Next climb the mountain to the Witch’s Castle to capture the Witch’s broom from Winged Monkeys.  Finally click your heels three times while reciting “There’s no place like home!,” and leave the Land of Oz by sliding down the rainbow.

The Wizard of Oz Educational Exhibition is a marvelous adventure of self-discovery for the whole family, only at Miami Children’s Museum, 980 MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island in Miami, from January 30th through May 9th, 2010. Entrance to the exhibit is included in each regular admission to the Museum.  Admission is $15 for adults and children, $12 for Florida Residents, FREE for children under 1 year, and Members are complimentary.
