The University of Miami’s College of Arts and Sciences Gallery to host Ceramic League of Miami’s 61st annual exhibition

The University of Miami’s College of Arts and Sciences Gallery will host the Ceramic League of Miami’s 61st annual member’s exhibition – ‘Two in One.’ It will be on view from June 10 to July 29, 2011 at the gallery located at 1210 Stanford Drive in Coral Gables. The exhibition is free and open to the public. A special opening reception will be held on Friday, June 10 from 5pm – 9pm.

This year the League and its members had a special opportunity to exhibit at the National Council for the Education of the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) held this past March in Tampa, Florida. The juror for the exhibition was sculptor and educator Nan Smith who teaches at the University of Florida. Because of the space restrictions that allowed for a more modest number of pieces and because of the short time-frame of the conference, the League wanted this second showing for the Miami audience.

Additionally, the larger exhibition space of the CAS Gallery is allowing for a second opportunity for league members to have works juried by Angela DiCosola, who heads the ceramics department at Florida Atlantic University. This combination of juried work shows the quality and variety of ceramic art being produced in South Florida.
