This December, The Standard Spa, Miami Beach will unveil a series of design collaborations between Miu Miu and M/M Paris – The M/Marbles Stool – in residency in The Garden.  This will be the first US iteration of this iconic partnership, as the original stool, M/Matching Colorstool, launched during Salone del Mobile di Milan earlier this year, and will be an elevation of the first version, featuring a combination of palm wood, crepe rubber, and hand-blown Murano glass pegs.

The stool itself will be launched with different activations over this design festival week – with landmarked giant versions of the M/Marbles Stool marked at The Standard Spa in Belle Isle, and in the Historic Buena Vista Post Office within Miami’s Design District. The stool themselves will then be available for purchase in the Miu Miu Design District boutique, which is a short walk from the Post Office, and also on MiuMiu.com.

M/M (PARIS) has a long-standing artistic dialogue with PRADA and Miu Miu. Together, the two design houses have developed multi-dimensional projects that include alphabets, exhibitions, and installations for fashion runway shows. Both Marbles Stool and Color Stool are part of a new design piece developed specifically for Miu Miu, bestowing the possibility of personalizing an archetypal stool designed by M/M (PARIS). The title of each is written in the same brutalist typeface, the letters appearing as marbles which represent the oversized, glass matchsticks found within the box.

The sturdy and stackable three-legged seat has been constructed of walnut and palmwood: a symbol of Miami and its iconic palm-tree lined sidewalks. In combining the two types of wood, the walnut base becomes a precious jewel concealed by the outer layer of palmwood. The M/Marbles Stool plays with the language of fashion: materials such as rubber and glass have been introduced, evoking the idea of fashion accessories. Rubber — a material most commonly found on the soles of shoes — is used to stencil the form whilst the glass matchsticks complete and personalize the object. This unique stool is produced in a limited edition of 40.

M/Marbles Stool finds its home at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach from December 3rd through December 8th, and signifies The Standard’s longstanding dedication to supporting the arts, and utilizing its spaces as forums for creative expression and open discussion.
