The Second Faena Festival

The Second Faena Festival

While Art Basel concentrates on a hugely broad presentation of art in a multitude of mediums, the Faena Festival is centered around spirituality and ritual. The 2019 event is being called “The Last Supper” and will consist of various installations, videos, performances, and commissions expressing topics such as religion, food, and more. A couple of the names expected to make an appearance at Faena Festival include Gabriel Chaile, Zhang Huan, and Myrlande Constant.

In regards to Myrlande Constant, the Faena Hotel lobby will be adorned in her voodoo flags. Zhang Huan’s work will feature two buddha sculptures created from incense ash and aluminum, the former expected to be disintegrated on the beach to symbolize impermanence. The 2013 film Inferno by artist Yael Bartana of Israel will also be screened.

The Faena Festival is free to attend and runs from December 2nd through the 8th. The festival events will take place across different venues.
