The Latin Recording Academy® Announces Expansion of its Membership Department

After a successful 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards® during the ongoing global pandemic, The Latin Recording Academy® is expanding its membership team with two strategic hires.

Isabel Paz joins the organization as Member Service Director, and Javier Parra as Awards and Membership Analytics Director, effective immediately. Paz previously served as Associate Director of Publicity at Warner Music Latina, while Parra comes from Berklee College of Music where he was Assistant Director of Admissions. They will work under the leadership of Luis Dousdebés, Chief Awards, Membership and Preservation Officer, and a 20-year veteran of The Latin Academy.

“The addition of Isabel and Javier will no doubt continue to expand the talent and scope of experience within our membership team,” said Dousdebés. “Their roles will enhance our efforts to best serve and represent our diverse membership body as we begin this year’s awards process.”

Latin music continues to grow worldwide as evidenced by the number of inscriptions received year after year. The 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards saw more than 20,000 entries across 53 categories, which is a double-digit increase from just five years ago.

Currently, The Latin Academy is composed of over 4,000 members representing 37 countries. Its membership base has significantly increased over the last two years, and this growth represents The Latin Academy’s steadfast commitment to preserving the vast diversity and culture of its music community, and to foster the next generation of Latin music creators.
