TUESDAY, JANUARY 25
Grand Opening Ceremony

8:00 PM Picnic in the Park/Debut of the Projection Wall
Capital Campaign donors, Trustees and public officials will gather in the hall for the formal opening of the New World Center. An outdoor celebration in the adjacent park will follow, featuring the inauguration of the magnificent exterior projection wall, with the premiere of an extraordinary new video mural by artists Tal Rosner and C.E.B. Reas.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26
The Opening Concert

7:30 PM
An iconic new performance hall comes alive, as Michel Tilson Thomas and the New World Symphony perform Wagner’s dramatic Flying Dutchman Overture and Copland’s majestic Third Symphony. Also featuring the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by renowned British composer Thomas Adès and exciting video art by Tal Rosner.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 27
A Schubert Journey

7:00 PM
MTT demonstrates the unprecedented versatility of our new hall with this three-part journey into the music and lyric genius of Franz Schubert. The concert features the orchestra, a trio of outstanding vocal and instrumental soloists, and the University of Miami Symphonic Choir and Frost Chorale. Performance will be wallcast live onto the exterior projection wall.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 28
The Opening Concert: A Reprise

7:30 PM
The new hall is turned inside out as we reprise the program of January 26 and wallcast it live onto the building’s 7,000-square-foot projection wall, featuring a high-quality audio system designed to envelop outdoor audiences in the sound of the orchestra. Experience classical music like never before—from a beautiful public park.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 29
The Grand Opening Gala

6:30 PM
Music and art lovers from around the world celebrate our new home with cocktails, a spectacular world premiere performance, dinner under the stars, and an after-party surprise—all to raise funds for the New World Symphony’s exhilarating future.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 30
Pictures at an Exhibition

5:00 PM and 7:00 PM
A community open house! During two free performances for the entire family, we invite the public to share in a collaboration between the New World Symphony and the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, where 13 student, faculty and alumni filmmakers premiere their short films to be shown as MTT and the orchestra perform Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
