“The City of North Miami is truly grateful to Rick Ross for hosting his annual backpack drive and concert in North Miami” says the City of North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre. The free community event presented by Rick Ross Charities, Inc., The Children’s Trust, and The Urban League of Greater Miami and the Jason Taylor Foundation took place Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 1pm – 5pm at the North Miami Athletic Stadium.
Once again, with its third installment, Rick Ross Be Out Day served the South Florida community by providing a fun filled day at the park. Students received complimentary back packs, school supplies, haircuts and encouraging words from local leaders like North Miami City Clerk Alix Desulme, Senator Frederica Wilson, Mayor Andre Pierre and some of their favorite recording artists getting the school year off to an exciting start.
After a fun day in the sun, and receiving their back to school essentials the children and families enjoyed performances by Rick Ross, Trina, Waka Flocka Flame, Triple C’s, Magazeen, Ace Hood and a host of others.
Rick Ross received recognition from the office of Congressman Kendrick Meeks as well as being presented with an official “Rick Ross Day”
Proclamation by The City of North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre. Rick Ross, while honored wanted everyone to understand that Be Out Day is about supporting and preparing the children for a successful school year. Mayor Andre Pierre called for “other icons to take the same lead in giving back to the community”.
