The Cheese Connection Coming to Miami in March 2011

The commercial capital of the Americas will host the First International Festival of Artisan Cheese, The Cheese Connection at Miami, an unprecedented event in South Florida, which will host some 18.000 visitors, cheese lovers and its culinary potential.

Justo Vera Ayestarán, president of The Cheese Connection believe this is the right moment for the US Cheese industry because “the American palate has finally acquired the taste for quality Cheeses that just a few years back were only available and demanded by a very small market niche. Our goal is to replicate the story of the Gourmet Coffee in the US and assist in making Artisan Cheeses a household staple and as popular as they are in many other countries.” Each year about 9.5 million cheese tons are produced in the world. For the dairy industry this is a business that has never ceased to flourish and to surprise with new varieties and new producers.

Vera graduated from the course “Mastering Cheese” of The Artisan Premium Cheese Center in New York. He’s confident that The Cheese Connection will become the most important artisan cheese show from the southern United States, the Caribbean and Latin America. “We know it is a great opportunity for companies, entrepreneurs and artisans from the industry to showcase their products and reach new markets, which undoubtedly will increase their sales and international exposure for their brands”, he said.
