The Charity Guild of Fort Lauderdale to Host “Charity is Always in Fashion” Spring Luncheon Friday, April 17

The Charity Guild of Fort Lauderdale is proud to announce that its 31stAnnual Spring Luncheon, “Charity is Always in Fashion”, will be held Friday, April 17 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. and feature one-of-a-kind fashions by international celebrity designer Nicolas Felizola. The luncheon is presented by The Seminole Tribe of Florida. 

As one of Fort Lauderdale’s oldest nonprofits, the Charity Guild enters its 63rd year serving the community and raising funds to benefit both the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) and Kids in Distress (KID). The Charity Guild is an all-volunteer organization with no paid administrative staff; every dollar raised goes directly to both CDTC and KID.

The luncheon will be hosted by co-chairs CheramieBurgess, Melissa DeMayo and Valerie Harvey. While sold-out crowds attend the program each year, the Charity Guild is expecting an even greater turnout in 2015 with the addition of celebrity designer Nicolas Felizola.  

Felizola’s unyielding passion for the Haute Couture style has garnered an array of prestigious awards, including the “Best Designer of Miami Fashion Week,” the Italian “ZanettiMurano Award” and Mexico’s “Universal Excellence Award.” Felizola has twice been recognized by Tiffany & Co. for his Privé and Uomo collections and has been featured in Forbes Magazine’s “America’s Young Fashion Designers,” where he was named one of ten Hispanic Designers influential in the United States, alongside the likes of Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la RentaFelizolahas also been awarded the “Miami Fashion Icon Award” by Miami Fashion Week and the U.S. Congressional Medal of Merit in 2012. 

His self-described clean and simple designs have been showcased on the world’s most elite runways. Felizola has outfitted celebrities including Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie, music icon Gloria Estefan and telenovela stars Jacqueline Bracamontes and Patricia Manterola
