The Betsy – South Beach hosts local transmedia artist [dNASAb] (@dnasab), pronounced “diznee,” for a new digital projection installation on The Orb from June 11 through July 18, celebrating the arrival of the upcoming World Cup games in Miami.
This installation launches alongside the permanent, state-of-the-art projection system for “The Betsy Orb,” featuring a year-round digital public art program that showcases commissioned digital works by contemporary artists from around the world.
This immersive cinematic fan experience, titled “THE GOOOOAAAAAL IS LOVE”, transforms The Orb into a living theater of soccer culture, collective emotion and global celebration. Blending architectural projection, XR driven storytelling and large scale visual spectacle, the project creates a new kind of fan experience where the city, the crowd and the game itself become part of the film.
The installation explores the passion and emotional mythology surrounding the world’s most beloved sport through a hybrid cinematic language that merges live action filmmaking, generative media, public space activation and immersive storytelling.
“Bringing this project to life is incredibly meaningful for me,” said artist [dNASAb]. “I grew up playing competitive soccer, and that sense of intensity, rhythm, and atmosphere has stayed with me. To now translate that energy into an immersive, large-scale cinematic experience—at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and public space—is something I’m genuinely excited about.”
Hidden from both Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue, “The Betsy Orb” is an architectural landmark that reveals itself only to pedestrians who venture midway down Española Way at 14th Place and look into the restored alleyway, creating a discovery experience that mirrors the immersive nature of the work itself.
