This year’s Reid & Fiorentino Call Of The Game Dinner & Celebrity Golf Classic culminated on Friday evening at the annual fund-raising Reid & Fiorentino Call Of The Game Dinner at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, benefiting Lauren’s Kids Foundation and the Dade Schools Athletic Foundation.

Following a highly successful Celebrity Golf Classic on Wednesday, March 9th at the prestigious Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, local NBC sports anchor, Joe Rose, emceed the evening’s entertainment as the Master of Ceremonies, while some of today’s most distinguished individuals were honored for their work towards making a difference in our community.

Featuring an illustrious attendance by the “who’s who” of South Florida, the welcome reception included a silent auction that attracted dozens of onlookers and bids as guests mingled before finding their seats. Welcome speeches were given on-stage by Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino before commencement of the live auction featuring music and sporting memorabilia, luxury vacation packages and one-of-a-kind experiences, among other items, that attendees bided on throughout the evening.

The highlight of this year’s dinner featured a number of prestigious awards that were presented for excellence and leadership in the community. Eric Reid presented legendary sports broadcaster, Jim Mandich, whose attendance at the dinner was questionable, with the Sonny Hirsch Excellence in Sports Broadcasting Award, collected on-stage by his son.  Dr. Barth Green, Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at University of Miami and President/Co-founder of Project Medishare, and his daughter, Jenna Green, were presented with the Community Service Award for their outstanding work in Haiti and South Florida by attorney, Ron Book.  Miami HEAT All-Star, Alonzo Mourning, was given a touching introduction by Tony Fiorentino before being presented with the Don Shula Sports Legend Award.  Lauren Book was honored for her work with Lauren’s Kids Foundation with an on-screen video presentation before Lauren took to the stage for a moving speech. Entertainment for the evening featured a live performance by 8 year-old violinist sensation, Brianna Kahane.

“This year’s Call Of The Game Dinner brought together some of the region’s most legendary individuals from our sports community,” said Tony Fiorentino. “Each year we feel privileged to be able to not only honor those who have made a difference, but raise a substantial amount of money for two great causes.”

“This year’s Reid & Fiorentino Call Of The Game Dinner & Celebrity Golf Classic demonstrates the level of commitment from our community towards helping today’s youth,” said Eric Reid.  “Our two-day fund raiser has also built a foundation for honoring local legends in sport and our philanthropic community heroes.  We thank everyone involved in making this year’s events such a success.”
