THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY TO HOST THE 2011 “WHITE OUT CANCER” GALA AT THE JW MARRIOTT MARQUIS MIAMI

The American Cancer Society will host the 2011 White Out Cancer Gala on Saturday, April 2nd at the new JW Marriott Marquis Miami.  Five-hundred influential leaders of Miami’s social and corporate communities will gather for a night of elegance, exquisite food, chic white décor by Petal Productions, and live entertainment.
Chairpersons for this year’s black-tie fundraiser are Marile and Jorge Luis Lopez of Jorge Luis Lopez Law Firm. Lisa and Benjamín León III of Leon Medical Centers will be recognized as our Honorees for their dedication in the fight against cancer and their accomplishments in the community.   “We are honored by this recognition and deeply committed to supporting efforts to end cancer, provide resources for research and education and serve our community,” said Benjamín.

Singer Amelia Vega will bring her Latin beauty and flavor as she kicks off the festivities as the evening’s Celebrity Emcee.  “This is a cause near and dear to my heart, I am very excited to be a part of such a great event and looking forward to lending a helping hand to the organization,” said Amelia.

“The Great White Way” silent auction will feature an array of items such as vacation packages, fabulous jewelry, and an exclusive selection of jewelry and accessories. During the live auction, attendees will be challenged to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Reaching Out to Cancer Kids (R.O.C.K.) Programs. This unique program includes R.O.C.K. Camp, College Scholarships and Families R.O.C.K. Weekend. As resources are available after these programs are fully funded, R.O.C.K. Programs also support childhood cancer research, childhood early detection programs and assistance for parents to access the best treatment for their child.  These programs will eliminate childhood behaviors known to cause cancer later in life and/or diminish suffering of the child with cancer and his/her family.

Tables for the Gala range from $3,500 – $25,000.  For more information, contact Carmen Piles, Gala Manager at 305.779.2861 or carmen.piles@cancer.org
