TEMPORAL REPLICATION

August 22, 2019, 7 – 9 pm

151 NE 41 St., S/223

Miami Design District in collaboration with Ground Control Miami and Placeholder present “Temporal Replication,” a movement performance by Jenna Balfe.

As part of the programming for ALL THAT IS SOLID, Ground Control Miami and Placeholder have invited a performance artist into a space intended for leisure and consumption with the intention of cultivating a conversation about the relationship between art, architecture, design, and performance while creating a platform for discourse within the community.

In Urs Fischer’s piece “Bus Stop,” located at Paradise Plaza, he references the non-gendered, neutral, and reduced quality of the skeleton––a feeling of ‘uncontrollable-ness’ implied by the water dripping on his head and the seemingly unintentional pool of water on the floor. Working in reaction to Fischer’s commentary, “Temporal Replication” will incorporate the context of the site-specificity of “Bus Stop” and take a moment to accept both the humor and the horror of our time that is largely experienced through the media/consumption frenzy.

Miami-based band Sticky Bunz will be playing music alongside Balfe during the performance and play a short set following an intermission.
