Teen Hip-Hop Workshop with Seth Brimstone at JMOF-FIU

The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU (JMOF-FIU) presents Seth “Brimstone” Schere’s “Hip Hop & The Diaspora: Jewish Contributions to Hip Hop Culture.” This workshop explores the invaluable contributions Jewish people have made to hip hop culture from behind the scenes to center stage. Through innovation and collaboration, Jewish people have shaped hip hop culture and played a substantial role in moving hip hop into the mainstream. Master Hip Hop artist and Jewish Educator Seth “Brimstone” Schere has worked with Grammy award-winning artists including The Roots and De La Soul. Brimstone will inspire, educate and entertain during this special interactive workshop suitable for all students in grades 5 and up to:

  • Enrich your life through Hip Hop
PROGRAM SPEAKER: Seth “Brimstone” Schere is a dynamic leader, educator and artist from Miami. From a modest start teaching Hip Hop at Jewish Community Centers, Brimstone founded PATH: Preserving, Archiving & Teaching Hip Hop, a pioneering Hip Hop education organization in South Florida. The recent release of his book, “Two Decades of Rap: The Lyrics of Brimstone 127” closed his 20 year career as an emcee but inspired his forthcoming book, “Hip Hop & The Diaspora: Jewish Contributions to Hip Hop Culture.” His emcee work appears on the compilation “Celebrate Hip Hop: Jewish Artists from Around the Globe” and he has produced/engineered for Grammy award-winning artists from across genres. He is co-producer of 3 of his own award-winning hip hop albums: “Metamorphoses,” “Elevator Music” and “Renaissance of Hip Hop.”
