Sundance Channel’s Academy Awards Programming March 4 & 6

Sundance Channel salutes the Academy Awards with two nights of programming showcasing Oscar® winners and nominees.  Thursday, March 4 brings two feature films starring Oscar winning actors.  The programming begins with A Prairie Home Companion, a backstage comedy featuring two-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep as a country singer; the 2006 film was the last directed by five-time nominee Robert Altman, who took home an Honorary Award that year.  It’s followed by Patty Jenkins’s fact-based 2004 drama Monster, starring Charlize Theron in an Oscar-winning turn as convicted serial killer Aileen Wuornos.  Short films take the spotlight on Saturday, March 6, when Sundance Channel presents a 90-minute block of nominees and winners, all U.S. television premieres.
