The customized mobile unit, donated by Simply Healthcare, will bring the nonprofit’s employment skills and suiting services to more communities throughout Miami-Dade County

Over the last 25 years, Suited for Success has empowered over 60,000 individuals in Miami-Dade County to economic independence and self-sufficiency through career development, training, professional image services, and a support network. The organization is expanding its reach county-wide with the launch of its Mobile Career Center, donated by Simply Healthcare.
The custom-fitted converted RV includes closet racks, shoes and accessories storage, fitting rooms, a computer bar, and seating and table space. This generous donation enables Suited for Success to bring its training, professional image, and resume assistance services to those in hard-to-reach areas of the county, such as Homestead, South Dade, West Kendall, Hialeah, and other areas.
“Transportation is often a barrier for those clients who are actively seeking to improve their lives and who could really benefit from our services,” says Sonia Jacobson, founder and executive director of Suited for Success. “The new Mobile Career Center helps us bridge that gap and enables us to bring our training, suiting, and Career Center services closer to them, making self-sufficiency even more accessible to more people.”
Suited for Success serves approximately 1,200 individuals each year from throughout Miami-Dade County. Founded in 1994 to provide interview suits for job-seeking women, the nonprofit quickly added on training programs, as well as services for men, at-risk youth, and most recently, military veterans and their family members.
“Simply Healthcare has a long-standing commitment to supporting our Medicaid consumers through partnerships that address key social barriers and improve the overall health of our consumers and the communities we support,” said Lourdes Rivas, Simply Healthcare Medicaid plan president. “We are excited about the opportunity to work with such a tremendous partner on this program and look forward to providing such a critical service that can improve long-term wellbeing.”
Headquartered in Miami-Dade County’s Culmer Community Action Center, Suited for Success works with over 130 partner agencies in South Florida, including homeless shelters, women’s shelters, government programs, residential treatment centers, employment agencies, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations.
The Mobile Career Center will be officially launched at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, August 27, at noon, at Suited for Success’s office in Miami-Dade County’s Culmer Community Action Center (1600 NW 3rd Ave., Miami, FL 33136). Suited for Success founder Sonia Jacobson will cut the ribbon along with Lourdes Rivas, Simply Healthcare Medicaid plan president, and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, a long-time supporter of the organization.
“Miami-Dade County is proud to welcome the Suited for Success Mobile Career Center to Culmer,” said Mayor Gimenez. “This amazing organization fulfills such an important role in the search for gainful employment and in helping individuals in our community move toward financial independence.”
“As we celebrate 25 years of service to Miami, we continue to assess and adapt our services to better serve those in our community,” adds Jacobson. “The Mobile Career Center is a big part of that.”
