Vizcaya and O, Miami are excited to have The Spoken Word Exchange for an afternoon of poetry writing and performance at Vizcaya!

Grow and explore at Vizcaya during this special family program, which is part poetry workshop and part spoken word performance. First, connect with your loved ones as you make poetry from your most treasured memories.

Then stick around to see how those poems get transformed into performance. The afternoon promises to be one of reflection, creativity, time together and making memories!

ABOUT VIZCAYA’S FAMILY PROGRAMS

ABOUT OUR PARTNERS:

Calvin “madeS.O.N.” Early is an internationally recognized speaker/spoken word artist with more than 10 years’ experience in youth development and community relations. The strength of his work is the ability to combine humor and real life experiences, with a presence that commands attention. He is probably most well-known for using powerful spoken word poetry as a vehicle to provoke thought, evoke change, and drive a message home to audiences of youth and those who advocate for them. Calvin is the founder of The Spoken Word Exchange, a grassroots, creative writing initiative, providing groups of artists and spectators from around the world the opportunity to experience and learn about each other’s culture through the art of poetry.

Arsimmer McCoy-Early is a 32 year old Richmond Heights, Florida native. She is a writer, entertainment host, singer and songwriter. Arsimmer McCoy-Early is the vice president and acting communications liaison for The Spoken Word Exchange. Arsimmer earned her Bachelor’s of English from Florida Memorial University in Carol City, Florida and has over a decade of experience in theater performance and education. Arsimmer combines these two areas of expertise in her work as a teacher/facilitator for both O, Miami’s Sunroom Poetry Community Project and Scrap Paper Inc., both of which are poetry-centered workshops geared towards helping students in Dade and Broward county public schools improve their grammar and composition skills. When Arsimmer is not educating she enjoys her freelance work as artistic director and event planner for various companies and organizations.

Spread the love!
