Thirty Special Olympics athletes, between the ages of 13 – 60-years-old, will receive a behind-the-scenes performance experience from the international cast of Cirque Dreams “Pop Goes the Rock.” From high-flying aerial acrobatics feats to timed dance moves, the athletes will get a sneak peek at the private rehearsal and some will be offered the opportunity to interact with the performers just a mere few hours before the Florida debut of “Pop Goes Rock” at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Linda Mills, director of Special Olympics Broward County, will be available for interviews along with some of the Special Olympics athletes.
The mission of Special Olympics Broward County is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
“Pop Goes the Rock” by Cirque Dreams is the newest stage spectacle from Neil Goldberg, creator of the groundbreaking Broadway hit “Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy” and founder of the famed Cirque Dreams Entertainment Brand. This one-of-a-kind carnival funhouse-inspired show, featuring live vocal performances and the Static Noyze team from MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, spins a new twist on popular hits from the last few decades. The show runs through April 8 for 12 performances.
