Remember the days when you used to sit by the window, anxiously awaiting the postman to appear with that mail you have been expecting from your pen pal? You were excited to know what’s next. Abe’s Penny has reintroduced the concept in a magazine format. In your mail box is a special delivery of an art and literature micro-magazine in the format of a postcard.
Abe’s Penny was founded in March of 2009 by sisters Anna and Tess Knoebel, who are currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Each week the sisters collaborate with different writers and artists to bring an interesting twist to the editorial and magazine world. The narrative, a combination of photographs and text, unfolds in sequence, and subscribers receive one part per week over the course of one month. Collectible and temporal, the stories vary each month.
Abe’s Penny will be participating in this year’s NADA art fair from December 3-6 in Miami. In addition to displaying the full archive of their past issues, they will be giving away a limited edition issue of Abe’s Penny created exclusively for NADA that features photographs by Will Rogan, Sara Van Der Beek, Thalia and Mickey Smith.
A subscription of Abe’s Penny starts at $12 per issue to $82 for a full year.
