Samsara, an unparalleled sensory experience and big-screen event, makes its Exclusive Miami Premiere on Friday, September 21 at the Coral Gables Art Cinema. Shot in 70mm film and being shown in beautiful 4K Digital Cinema Projection, a new enhancement for the Cinema, the film reunites director Ron Fricke and producer Mark Magidson, whose award-winning films Baraka and Chronos were acclaimed for combining visual and musical artistry. Samsara transports viewers to sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial sites, and natural wonders as it searches for the elusive current of interconnection that runs through our lives.

Filmed over a period of almost five years in twenty-five countries, Samsara allows viewers to make to their own interpretations,  by using only images and music without dialogue or narration. Sans main characters or a traditional storyline, it was important for Fricke and Magidson to shoot Samsara using high quality images that captured every minute detail and the rich texture of its subject (Fricke was also the cinematographer on the groundbreaking Koyaanisqatsi). By dispensing with dialogue and descriptive text, the film subverts our expectations of a traditional documentary, exploring the mundane and the miraculous, the ancient and the modern, illuminating the links between humanity and the rest of nature. The Boston Herald says Samsara is “Awesome,   gorgeous…spellbinding. Definitely, not to be missed.”

Gables Cinema Director Robert Rosenberg says, “Samsara is a film quite different than any we’ve ever shown, leading the audience into an almost alternate state of being that is at once meditative and inspiring.”  Tickets for all screenings are $11 and under and are available for purchase in advance on the Cinema’s website at www.gablescinema.com or in person at the box office during regular screening hours. For more information visit the website or the Cinema’s Facebook page, www.facebook/gablescinema, or contact the Cinema at info@gablescinema.com or 786-385-9689.
