Salt & Straw’s Dairy Free Decadence Series Returns

Salt & Straw ice cream’s iconic Dairy Free Decadence Series is back and available beginning Friday, December 29th through the month of January in scoop shops and via local delivery and nationwide shipping.

Co-founder and head ice cream maker Tyler Malek has been serving creative vegan ice cream since Salt & Straw’s humble beginnings, and now more than 20% of the menu is dairy-free, including favorites like Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge.

These limited-time five flavors, including two brand new flavors this year, showcase that decadent ice cream doesn’t need any dairy at all. Chef Malek utilizes incredibly rich dairy alternatives to mimic the creaminess of dairy, resulting in impressively indulgent ice creams, all of which are inspired by classic American desserts.

Flavors include:

  • Death by Chocolate Chocolate Cake (v) – Also new to this year’s menu, chocolate in four forms: a chocolate upcycled barley milk ice cream base paired with rich fudge brownie made with Dutch process cocoa, and combined with a vegan chocolate cake and vegan chocolate ganache.

  • Marionberry Oatmeal Cobbler (v) – New to this year’s menu, this flavor is a take on a berry slab pie, made with a coconut and oat milk base spiced with cinnamon, and swirled with a sweet marionberry filling and pie crust topping.

  • Toasted Oat Milk & Cookies (v) – Chewy, crunchy chocolate chip cookies are dunked in silky cinnamon-spiked oat milk cream, layered with a rich chocolate ganache.

  • Red Velvet Cake w/ Cream Cheese Frosting (v) – Bits of spongy red velvet cake are infused into a sweet coconut cream, swirled with both red velvet cake batter and tangy cream cheese frosting.

  • Bananas Foster w/ Candied Pecans (v) – Coconut cream is infused with banana and swirled with candied pecans and housemade banana caramel made with rum, brown sugar, molasses, and warming spices.

Additionally, beginning in February, Salt & Straw will also be re-introducing the beloved Strawberry Coconut Water Sherbet (v) to all Miami shops in place of Roasted Pineapple Coconut Sherbet.

Spread the love!
