WE tv CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF ACTRESS RUE MCCLANAHAN ON FRIDAY, JUNE 4TH

WE tv, home of television’s beloved series THE GOLDEN GIRLS, celebrates the life of adored actress Rue McClanahan, who passed today at the age of 76.  The Emmy-winning actress was perhaps best known for her sassy role of Blanche Devereaux on the hit series.  On Friday, June 4, from 5PM-1AM ET/PT, WE tv airs WE Remember Rue — a marathon of our favorite GOLDEN GIRLS episodes centering on the lovable and feisty Blanche.  

THE GOLDEN GIRLS was an immediate hit with viewers when it first debuted, and remains one of television’s most acclaimed sitcoms.  Starring Rue McClanahan, Betty White, Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty, the series profiles the unexpected lives and loves of a group of retirees living together in Miami.  The women form the perfect circle of friends, and bring laughter, tears and fun for an audience of all ages.  The cast’s tour-de-force performances, won Emmys during the series’ seven season initial run.  WE tv is currently television’s home to this extraordinarily popular and empowering series for women. 

Rue McClanahan was a veteran television actress and Broadway star of the 50s.  She starred in a number of television shows, including “All in the Family” and “Maude” with fellow Golden Girl, Bea Arthur.  McClanahan also co-starred in “Mama’s Family” for three years, before landing the breakout role as the saucy, southern belle, Blanche Devereaux which garnered her an Emmy award.   

THE GOLDEN GIRLS airs regularly on WE tv every Monday night from 8PM-1AM ET and every weeknight at 11PM ET.
