ROOM 25, A NEW PROHIBITION-STYLE SPEAKEASY, OPENS IN CORAL GABLES

Seek and Find, Coral Gables’ dining and nightlife destination, announces the launch of Room 25, a new, hidden prohibition-inspired bar and lounge nestled on the restaurant’s second-floor and accessible only via secret password. Room 25 lounge launches with an exclusive VIP event on Thursday, June 6th and will operate every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights starting at 8 p.m. The opening of Room 25 brings live jazz performances, a DJ, a specialty selection of Old Fashioned cocktails and small-bite dining offerings to those seeking nightlife and entertainment options late night in Coral Gables.

Housed in a historic, two-story building from 1925, the unique space boasts an outdoor terrace, an intimate bar, lounge seating and sexy murals by Jashe Oltuski.  Room 25’s exclusive entry is accessed through a hidden stairwell on the eatery’s exterior. To seek entry into the new lounge, a password must be given to the greeter upon arrival.

“Room 25 is an intimate space that overlooks Ponce De Leon Boulevard, offering a menu of classic cocktails with a contemporary twist and live jazz music or a DJ three nights a week,” explained owner Kevin Gouchee. “The launch of Room 25 fills a sophisticated niche for those looking to seek and find an intimate and unique space to unwind in Coral Gables.”

According to Gouchee, a highlight of Room 25’s menu is the extensive list of specialty Old Fashioneds, which were crafted by the bar’s team of expert mixologists. Heralded as “the grandfather of the modern day cocktail,” Old Fashioned variations include the venue’s signature, the Rm25, a flavorful combination of Woodford Reserve bourbon, sugar, Angostura & Regan’s orange bitters and orange zest; The Key,  a zesty blend of Larceny 92 proof Irish whiskey, black truffles, Pedro Ximenez syrup and walnut bitters; and the nutty Obstruction made with Bulliet Rye, roasted peanut liqueur, Bitter Truth Creole bitters with a citrus rim. Aside from Old Fashioneds, the speakeasy offers an enticing menu of spirits for guests to imbimb on their own contemporary approaches to classic libations.

Plates to share include the Truffle Toast ($15) a combination of arugula, piquillo pepper, bacon, truffle caviar and white truffle sauce served on ciabatta; Guacatones ($10) a blend of guacamole topped with chipotle sauce served atop a fried tostone; Ceviche Martini ($11) a mixture of the catch of the day, creamy leche de tigre, crispy quinoa and avocado; and Tabla ($17) charcuterie plate of prosciutto, manchego, botija olives and mixed berry sauce served with crostinis.

Room 25 is a  swanky drinking den flanked with moody lighting and plush seating. The intimate space is adorned with innuendo, with murals by Jashe Oltuski, a locally-celebrated painter who utilizes reclaimed materials such as doors, tables, mirrors and wood to create detailed portraits.

Room 25 is password-protected as guests are encouraged to follow on Instagram and Facebook to access the password of the week. Room 25 is open Thursday through Saturday from 8 p.m. until close late night.
