New World School of the Arts shines the spotlight on more than 200 students as they present the beloved signature showcase – Rising Stars. Beginning with the Rising Stars Exhibition on Friday, March 1, guests are invited to enjoy an evening of all things visual arts during the Opening Reception, where participating students, dean of visual arts O. Gustavo Plascencia, and faculty will be on site to discuss the artworks presented. An invaluable exhibition for the community, the show consists of drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, art & technology, and sculpture allowing visitors to enjoy a wealth of artistic exploration by young rising artists. Just a week later on Friday, March 8, the Rising Stars showcase continues at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium under the direction of NWSA dean of theatre Alan Patrick Kenny The Rising Stars Performance, a professionally staged showcase, highlights the work presented thus far this academic year by both the high school and the college students, with carefully selected excerpts from dance, music, and theater performances.
