WHAT
Holiday Care Package Packing Event
HEAT President Pat Riley and Chris Bosh and his foundation Team Tomorrow, Inc. have teamed up with America’s Moms for Soldiers in an effort to bring a little bit of HEAT and love to our troops by preparing care packages in advance of Veterans Day. The packages, which will be shipped overseas to active members of the U.S. military, contain fleece blankets, hygiene items, goodies, snacks and more, as well as a personal letter thanking the troops for their tireless and unwavering service to our great country. Select HEAT players, members of the United States Army as well as volunteers from Miramar High School’s Lady Patriots Basketball Team and their coaches will also participate in the event.
Honoring the military is a top priority for the Miami HEAT. In 2006, Riley launched the HEAT Home Strong initiative, an on-going program where members of the U.S. Military who have returned home are saluted during every HEAT home game. The mission of the Home Strong initiative is to give aid, support and recognition to any person who has been in harm’s way during their military service. Home Strong is presented by C1 Bank.
