Rick Springfield’s music was more than teen idol fare and his best moments have actually withstood the test of time, emerging as some of the best-crafted mainstream power pop of the 1980s. There’s something about Rick Springfield that is and always has been very real. His songs about love and loss, greed and envy, elation and heartbreak spoke to that part of human nature that hasn’t changed in 3,000 years. And they still do.  A singer turned soap opera star turned singer, Springfield was born in Sydney, Australia.  He was able to secure a recording contract with RCA and in the midst of recording his debut for the label he was signed to play the young, eligible Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital. Springfield’s popularity skyrocketed, setting the stage for the release of the album Working Class Dog later that year. Powered by the classic single “Jessie’s Girl,” which eventually hit the top of the charts, and the Top Ten follow-up “I’ve Done Everything for You,” Working Class Dog was a smash success andRick won a Grammy award for Best Male Rock Vocal for “Jessie’s Girl.”

Since then he has continued to release new material and pursue his acting career in both movies and television.  His most recent studio release, Venus in Overdrive (2008 New Door Records), entered The Billboard 200 chart at #28, the best debut of his career.   Most recently added to his list of accomplishments, Rick Springfield became a best-selling author, publishing his intimate and often unsparingly honest autobiography Late, Late at Night in October 12, 2010.  To date, Rick Springfield has sold over 19 million records with a whopping 17 top-40 hits. He has performed for millions of devoted fans over the last three decades and continues to play over 100 shows a year, attracting new fans wherever he goes with his unique brand of audience interaction, unstoppable energy, and unforgettable songs that have become part of the soundtrack to people’s lives. And now for the first time he is touring with his former costar on General Hospital Jack Wagner, who will open for Rick on this tour.
