Restaurateur Steve Martorano to be Honored for Culinary Excellence at 13th Annual Cuisine for Art Fundraiser on Thursday, May 20

Some new faces will rock this year’s Cuisine for Art fundraiser slated for Thursday, May 20 at 6 p.m. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and you’re invited to this party, which honors local restaurateur Steve Martorano for his contributions to culinary excellence. Benefiting the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, this fun event features public officials and, for the first time, local movers and shakers serving as celebrity waiters.

This year’s celebrity waiters include Hollywood Commissioner Patricia Asseff;  Broward County School Board Member Robin Bartleman; Memorial Healthcare System Senior Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer John Benz; Hollywood Commissioner Dick Blattner; City of Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober; AutoNation Vice President of Corporate Affairs Gale Butler; Hollywood Commissioner Beam Furr; Bitner Goodman Partner Michael Goodman; Broward County School Board Chair Jennifer Gottlieb;  Broward County Commissioner Sue Gunzburger; Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Alan Koslow, Esq.; Broward County School Board Member Ann Murray; Hollywood Vice Mayor Heidi O’Sheehan; Seminole Tribe of Florida Hollywood Council Representative Max Osceola; Nova Southeastern University’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Dean Don Rosenblum; Funding Arts Broward! President Drazia Rubenstein; Miami Dolphins Alumni and Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation Founder Twan Russell; Hollywood Commissioner Fran Russo; Winterfest, Inc. President and CEO Lisa Scott-Founds; and Hollywood Commissioner Linda Sherwood. Cuisine for Art Event co-chairs are Jules Meyer, Susan Renneisen, and Anna Smith

The party kicks off at 6 p.m. with wine and vodka cocktails courtesy of Southern Wine and Spirits, beer compliments of Black Art Beer and bite-sized meatballs from Martorano’s Italian-American Kitchen. Following will be a sit-down dinner featuring petite filet mignon and fennel roasted salmon, a silent auction of one-of-a-kind items, a raffle for prizes, and entertainment by Rock With U. Also, everyone present will have the opportunity to bid on red-hot, authentic Fender guitar centerpieces.

Event sponsors include Becker & Poliakoff, P.A.; Black Art Beer; the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino; and Southern Wine and Spirits. South Philly native Steve Martorano is the owner of the critically acclaimed and hugely successful Café Martorano in Fort Lauderdale and Martorano’s Italian-American Kitchen in Hollywood, Fla. at the Seminole Paradise/Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on the strip in Las Vegas. Martorano’s original concept of combining food, music and films under one roof attracts celebrities and is often imitated, but never duplicated. In 2007, Gourmet magazine wrote that Martorano “may just make the best meatball in the world.” Martorano recently demonstrated his meatball-making skills on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Cost of this event is $85 per person before or on Monday, May 17; $105 per person after that date and at the door.
