Rabbit Hole Distillery Unveils Founder’s Collection Limited-Release Mizunara

Rabbit Hole Distillery has unveiled its latest release, Mizunara, a distinguished 15-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey finished in barrels made from Japanese Mizunara Oak, renowned for their rarity and quality. This exclusive offering is part of the highly sought-after Founder’s Collection, curated by Rabbit Hole Distillery.

The Mizunara whiskey presents a complex flavor profile, with aromas of nutmeg, allspice, walnut, and leather leading to a palate filled with a blend of earthy and confectionery notes, including hints of mint, honey, wood, and orange. The whiskey finishes with lingering tobacco and oak flavors, accompanied by subtle touches of custard, banana, cinnamon, floral undertones, dark cherry, and chocolate. Each bottle of Mizunara is a limited-edition masterpiece, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship and artistry involved in its production.

For this limited release, Rabbit Hole Distillery Founder and Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame Whiskey Maker, Kaveh Zamanian, selected a handful of 15-year-old whiskey barrels from his own personal collection and finished them in these special Japanese Mizunara Oak barrels, revealing a remarkable, one-of-a-kind whiskey.

The Mizunara Oak used in the creation of this exceptional whiskey hails from Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island, and is known for its unique properties that enhance the aging process of spirits. Rabbit Hole Distillery’s Founder, Kaveh Zamanian, handpicked select 15-year-old bourbon barrels from his private collection to undergo the finishing process in these rare Japanese Mizunara Oak casks, resulting in a truly distinctive and unparalleled whiskey.

Zamanian’s dedication to innovation and reverence for whiskey-making traditions are exemplified in the development of Mizunara and other expressions within the Founder’s Collection. Mizunara was first released in 2021. Today, only 2,200 bottles of Mizunara are available for purchase at Rabbit Hole Distillery and in select markets nationwide.
