Planet Green’s “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” on “The Martha Stewart Show”

The Wednesday, May 26 edition of “The Martha Stewart Show” (syndicated, check local listings). During the hour-long episode, daytime host Martha Stewart is joined in-studio by Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, stars of Planet Green’s highly anticipated original series, “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” (premieres June 16 at 9pm ET/PT).

Dr. Brent Ridge, a former Martha Stewart Vice President, and Josh Kilmer Purcell, a former drag queen /New York Times bestselling author, who describe themselves as “accidental goat farmers,” brought three of their 154 goats from their estate, Beekman 1802, with them to the taping.

The goats, Hannah, Tina and Sunny, stood by as “Farmer John” (also featured in “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” and caretaker for Beekman 1802) gave Martha, Brent and Josh  a lesson in goat milking. While milking the goats, Martha exclaimed, “I’m not getting any milk!” Josh jokingly added, “I think mine is broken.”

After the lesson, the boys joined Martha in the kitchen to share their delicious recipe for caramel cajeta cinnamon rolls.

Dr. Brent Ridge and Farmer John on the goats:

Martha: You have how many milking goats?

Brent: There are 154 total goats right now.

Martha: Have these boys actually ever milked the goats before? The Beekman boys?

Farmer John: They’ve practiced.

Martha: The fabulous boys have milked?!

Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer Purcell on farming:

Martha: What’s the hardest thing about being a farmer?

Brent: Well, the hardest thing for me is making everything look perfect all the time. As I said, I’m always trying to keep things clean and tidy.

Josh: He wants our farm to look like your farm.

Brent: It’s true. I have high standards to live up to.

Josh: Actually, he wants me to make the farm look like your farm.

Martha: This is the kind of talk that goes on and on in this fabulous program [“The Fabulous Beekman Boys”]. They’re constantly arguing.

Josh: Who’s right more of the time, him or me?

Brent: You better say me, Martha.

Martha: Oh, farmer John. Farmer John is right most of the time.

Martha on Planet Green’s “The Fabulous Beekman Boys”:

Martha: It’s [“The Fabulous Beekman Boys”] more than a reality show.

Brent: We’re very funny.

Martha: Very silly and very funny.

Martha: Now, I’ve watched a couple of the segments and they’re very funny. It’s beautifully filmed by the way…it’s all done in HD, it looks like…

Brent: It is. We have to look our best at all times.

Martha: Yes, you do…that’s not too hard.

Martha, Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer Purcell on Sharon Springs, NY:

Martha: All your neighbors in the show seem to come by all the time.

Brent: Of course!

Martha: How does anybody get anything done? You should see this – it’s like party-ville! What’s the name of this little town?

Brent: Sharron Springs, NY.

Martha: You’re putting this place on the map. It’s going to be spoiled.

Brent: That’s right.

Josh: It deserves to be. It’s a beautiful town.

Dr. Brent Ridge on his estate, Beekman 1802:

Martha: Brent, tell me why in fact you did buy that great big place [Beekman 1802]. Is there a family history to it?

Brent: No. Actually, we call ourselves accidental goat farmers. We were driving upstate; happened to drive by this house; saw the “For Sale” sign in the yard and the rest is history.

Martha: Do you have housekeepers?

Brent: No…

Martha: Who cleans that giant house?

Brent: I do, Martha. I’m cleaning all the time.

Martha, Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer Purcell on patience vs. laziness:

Martha: Are you patient?

Brent: Farmer John is patient. I like things to be perfect.

Martha: Are you patient, Josh?

Josh: I’m pretty laid back. Brent’s the perfectionist.

Martha: Are you lazy?

Josh: I’m not lazy! Well, maybe a little…

Spread the love!
