Jules' Undersea Lodge

The world's only underwater hotel. You scuba dive to your room. Breakfast is delivered by a diver.

Jules' Undersea Lodge was originally a research habitat used by marine scientists in the 1970s. In 1986, it was converted into a hotel. The lodge sits 21 feet underwater in a mangrove lagoon in Key Largo. To check in, you put on scuba gear and dive down. Your luggage is delivered in a waterproof case.

Concierge Tip

Jules' Undersea Lodge is at 51 Shoreland Dr in Key Largo. Overnight stays start around $700 per person and include scuba certification if needed, unlimited diving, and meals delivered by the staff diver. Day visits for non-overnight guests are also available. Book months in advance — there are only two rooms.

The rooms are surprisingly comfortable — full-size beds, hot showers, a microwave. The windows look out into the lagoon. Fish press their faces against the glass. You fall asleep to the sound of your own breathing and the ambient noise of the ocean. It is the strangest and most peaceful night's sleep available in Florida.
