Piazzolla’s Tango

Piazzolla’s Tango

January 11 at 8 p.m.

Knight Concert Hall

Start the new year with a date night to remember with New World Symphony.

Under the baton of Chilean-Italian conductor Paolo Bortolameolli, New World Symphony offers the best of Buenos Aires during a fiery evening of tango featuring world-renowned dancers.

Astor Piazzolla brings the heat with “Libertango” and “The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires,” giving Vivaldi’s popular work a below-the-equator spin.

Alberto Ginestera’s Four Dances From Estancia draws inspiration from malambo, the competitive dance of Argentinian cowboys.

Bandoneónist Julien Labro is joined onstage by two dancers for Carlos Gardel’s tango standard “Por una Cabeza.”

Ticket holders can arrive early to enjoy a free tango lesson before the concert.
