Arts of Miami-Dade County, Inc.
1300 Biscayne Blvd. Miami, FL

Miami’s leading multicultural contemporary dance ensemble, Peter London Global Dance Company (PLGDC), returns to the Arsht Center in celebration of the company’s 8th annual season.

Audiences can expect the world premiere of “BLACK MEN CROSSING”, a new work written about the journey of survival and quest for freedom of black men of the diaspora. Miami’s own playwright, actor and spoken word artist Eddie Brown wrote this collaborative piece and will be speaking the written words. The piece also features choreography by Peter London and guests choreographers, Gentry Isaiah George, Lloyd Knight and Nathaniel Quinn Sokol Davis. “CROSSING” will feature live accompaniment with music composed and performed by Ezra Haugabrooks.

The season includes “BLACK BIRD,” a clarion call and dance of resistance especially in dangerous times; a tour de force of power and beauty that takes us on a woman’s journey of choice that fly fearlessly in the face of all obstacles, century’s old brutality and betrayal, choreographed and performed by Miami’s own and NWSA alum, Kashia Kancey. The world premiere of “Days Together” by Vancouver Ballet BC artist, Julliard and NWSA alum, Justin Rapaport. The premiere of “WINGS” choreographed by Peter London with additional choreography by PLGDC women Anasthasia Grand-Pierre, Iwalani Martin and Brooke Logan.

“CROSSING” includes company premieres of Peter London’s “YORUBA YARD”, a soul lifting cavalcade of dance influenced by the powerful dances of the Yoruba Orishas or Cuban Santeria/Saints; and “CONGO SQUARE”, a vibrant and electrifying profusion of majestic dancing driven by the finest American jazz music and African chanting and percussion.

This spectacular evening of excellent choreography by South Florida’s premiere multicultural contemporary dancers of exquisite technical prowess, beauty, creative intelligence and unabashed passion is not to be missed.

Spread the love!
