Maison Perrier-Jouët and Design Miami/ have collaborated for the past eight years to offer emerging artists and designers visibility on an international platform. As part of this partnership, Maison Perrier-Jouët commissions creative talents for their capacity to express the cultural heritage of the House through the prism of the twenty-first century, as well as their own unique identity.

Creative liberty and unconventional observations of nature are an integral part of Maison Perrier-Jouët’s history and are also characteristic traits of Art Nouveau. Loyal to this movement to which the House is closely linked, Italian designer Andrea Mancuso, of Analogia Project, has imagined Metamorphosis, a collection of six glasses infused with reinvented nature that unite traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Exploring the metamorphoses of nature, the designer also draws a parallel with the House’s savoir-faire that turns grapes into champagne.

Following his conversation with Maison Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps, Mancuso found that each wine has a unique history and personality, which he evokes with a dedicated glass. To him, champagne isn’t simply aromas and flavors, it is also a catalyst for stories, surprises, and emotions. Just like his designs. The distinctive colors, the intricacy, and the scale of Mancuso’s designs have been translated into delicate, crystal sculptures by Murano-based Fondazione Berengo.

Metamorphosis is displayed in a singular setting created from thousands of ceramic pieces in which the designer seeks to connect the House’s vineyards with its cellars and the cuvées themselves. The immersive scenography stimulates viewers’ curiosity and interacts with them by intercepting the familiar with the unexpected. With Metamorphosis, Maison Perrier-Jouët expands its dialogue between nature and wine to offer a new, artistic champagne experience.

Andrea Mancuso is a Milan-based Italian designer with a background in furniture and lighting design. In 2011 he cofounded Analogia Project, a multidisciplinary practice that uses design as a means to distort reality and to provoke emotional connections with the viewer. Though his work takes shape in a variety of mediums, its defining character is its ability to tell a story. Every object, installation, and interior transports the viewer through history, culture, time, and space.

Maison Perrier-Jouët and Mancuso wish to thank Fondazione Berengo, glassmakers, and Alessio Sarri and Nuevoforme, ceramists, who helped bring Metamorphosis to life.
