Pablo Cano Exhibition Dates Extended

Due to the overwhelming response to Pablo Cano’s exhibition Found Object / Found Love at the Bakehouse Art Complex, the exhibition dates have been extended and the show will be available for viewing until March 28th, 2010. A second reception has been added for March 12th from 7-10pm. To accompany the exhibition, the Bakehouse Art Complex has published a beautiful 55 page catalog featuring a foreword by BAC Executive Director, Arlys Raymond, and an introduction from Bonnie Clearwater, Executive Director and Chief Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Pablo Cano will be available for catalog signing the night of the reception on March 12th.

The Bakehouse Art Complex is pleased to bring Pablo Cano back to Wynwood for the second time in two years with Found Object  Found Love: 30 Years of Art with Pablo Cano. Co-Curated by Anthony Ardavin & Lauren Wagner, BAC’s Associate Director of Exhibitions, this celebratory thirtieth year of art takes a look back at the early work of Cano and follows him on his artful journey beginning in Baltimore and ending back here in his beloved Miami. Found Object  Found Love features unique never-before shown oil paintings, figurative sculptures, ceramics and of course, his notable marionettes.

The juxtaposition of his older work with his newest creations brings out the similarities and differences between them.  From larger than life marionettes first commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami to large-scale torn drawings created on the floor of his apartment in Paris 1983, the exhibition is carefully curated to explore and understand the journey of Cano’s work.

Widely revered as one of the premiere contemporary artists of South Florida, Pablo Cano easily captivates the mind and hearts of the young and old and everyone in between. Collected internationally, Pablo Cano’s work has been displayed at various prestigious locations such as the Wolfsonian, Lowe Art Museum, Bass Museum of Art, Cintas Foundation, Museum of Contemporary Art,  North Miami, and most recently the Miami-Dade Public Library. Last year, Pablo Cano made his debut in the Wynwood Arts District right here at the Bakehouse Art Complex with the exhibition Pablo Cano at Wynwood.
