Over $30,000 Raised at Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center’s 5th Annual Ribbons for the Children Event

The Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center’s (CDTC) 5th Annual Ribbons for the Children event, an art reception and benefit auction, raised over $30,000 to support children and families served by CDTC living with HIV/AIDS.  The event, held in collaboration with ArtsUnited and presented in loving memory of Matthew Klir, was held on Friday December 3, 2010 at the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale.  Mr. Jay Forte, consultant, author and CDTC Transformer served as the emcee.

Over 150 guests attended this year’s Ribbons event at the Museum of Art.  Twenty local artists depicted the red ribbon in original artwork they created for the auction.  In addition, attendees sampled hors d’oeuvres provided by Ultimate Cuisine, enjoyed the music of jazz pianist Paul Banman and vocalist Mzuri Moyo and viewed the artwork created by the children of CDTC.  One of the Center’s teen leaders, Nick Pilecki, also provided a moving testimonial on “Hope”.

Sponsors for this year’s event included Bank Atlantic, PubSet Printing & Design, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Premier Beverage, Abbott, Tibotec, Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University, Kirschbaum, Birnbaum, Lippman & Gregoire, PLLC, 9 Muses Art Center, Kohl’s and Ultimate Cuisine.

“We are very grateful to our sponsors and to the twenty local artists who donated their time, talent and original works of art to support the efforts of the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center HIV/AIDS program,” said Dr. Susan M. Widmayer, Executive Director, CDTC.
