Orchestra Miami Presents “Mozart Under the Moonlight”,
A Free Concert in Pinecrest Gardens’ Newly Renovated Banyan Bowl Orchestra Miami proudly debuts in the beautifully restored Banyan Bowl at Pinecrest Gardens. As a gift to the community, Orchestra Miami will present this concert completely free of charge. This concert is presented in association with the Hispanic-American Lyric Theatre and co-sponsored by Williamson Automotive and International Finance Bank.

This not-to-be missed event takes place at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. In what promises to be a truly special evening, Orchestra Miami will perform Mozart’s popular “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” (A Little Night Music) Serenade, Samuel Barber’s poignant composition “Knoxville: Summer of 1915” featuring the lovely Susana Díaz as soprano soloist, and Mozart’s joyous Symphony N. 29 in A Major, K. 201. Conducted by Artistic Director, Elaine Rinaldi, this concert presents the perfect opportunity to take advantage of our balmy South Florida weather and the lush environment of the Gardens.

The gates open at 6:00 PM, and the concert is open seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Food and beverages will be sold at the venue. Free parking is provided onsite. Pinecrest Gardens is located at 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, FL 33156.

Soprano Susana Díaz is an accomplished operatic talent.  Her warm, crystalline timbre and intelligent, artistic style bring polished interpretations to the concert and operatic stages. Ms. Diaz has been featured by many leading regional companies including the Cincinnati Opera, Dayton Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Orlando Philharmonic and Ballet Florida.  Ms. Díaz recently made her South American concert debut at the Teatro Solis in Montevideo, Uruguay.  In June, Susana made her Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut in Pasion por la Zarzuela.  Other recent engagements include performances with the Orlando Philharmonic, the Miami Symphony Orchestra in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, and the Concert Association of South Florida’s Zarzuela Tonight! at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.  She was an award winner of the Metropolitan Opera District Auditions, a finalist in the Columbus Opera Competition and a winner of the Schloss Leopoldskron Voice Competition in Salzburg, Austria.  Ms. Díaz holds a Master of Music degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she is also completing her doctoral thesis on the vocal works of Cuban-American composer Aurelio de la Vega.

Conductor Elaine Rinaldi is fast making her mark among the ranks of rising young American conductors. Critics have called her performances “brilliant” and her interpretative work “impeccable”. As Founder and Artistic Director of Orchestra Miami, Rinaldi has brought a new level of professionalism and quality to the local arts scene. In addition to her work with Orchestra Miami, Rinaldi is much in demand as a recitalist and regularly performs with rising opera stars Elizabeth Caballero, soprano and Russell Thomas, tenor.

Founded in 2006 by Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi, Orchestra Miami has quickly established itself as an important part of Miami’s vibrant cultural community. In its brief history, Orchestra Miami has presented the finest in classical symphonic, Latin jazz and opera, with some of the most important and recognized names in the world of music. Its commitment to community and education is reflected in its series of free children’s concerts, as well as its partnership with the Miami Dade County Public Schools’ “Cultural Passport” program.
