In her book ‘The Images Behind the Emotions: the Archetypes and the Power of Myth in Cinema’, Gioia Gabellieri Bargagli takes us on a guided tour of the film trilogy ‘Lord of the Rings’ and films by directors from all over the world, and invites us to examine a number of Jungian archetypes with which we identify, thus revealing the capacity of cinema to assist the spectator along a voyage of self-discovery.”
