Join us all month long as we explore and learn about the diverse communities of various Native American nations across North America. Construct corn husk dolls in a similar style to those found in Northeastern Native communities and create artwork in our Art Studio inspired by contemporary Native American artists.Visit Museum at Home or our social media channels (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) to enjoy video storytellings, cooking demonstrations, and other educational art projects that highlight this month’s theme!
World Textile Art Biennial
Saturday, November 5 | 3PM -5PM
Celebrate the World Textile Art Biennial with a variety of art workshops which will have your littles ones learning and exploring with textiles!
“Trash to Textile Treasure”
Create textile art pieces as a family by reusing all plastic bottle sources, including threads from recycled plastic bottles.
“Family Fiber Treasure”
Join guest artist, five-year-old Stella Gaia Vendermey, and her mom, textile and teaching artist Aurora Molina, as they guide you in creating a fiber piece portrait inspired by a family member.
Veteran’s Day
Friday, November 11
Come to the Museum on Veterans Day to thank all those who have served! Create patriotic collages in our Art Studio, make tissue paper poppies to adorn your outerwear, and enjoy an engaging story time with our Theater Troupe.
Sensory Friendly Saturday: Native American Heritage Celebration
Saturday, November 12 | 9AM–11AM
On the second Saturday of every month, Miami Children’s Museum offers a sensory friendly experience for children with disabilities and their families. This month we’ll be honoring the first people by celebrating Native American Heritage Month. Join us for a sensory friendly cooking play as we make Fry Bread to honor the survival and perseverance of Indigenous people all over the country. Listen to creation stories during story time with our Theater Troupe. Explore the Museum in a sensory modified supportive setting with limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments. Our goal is to provide your child with the opportunity to engage in social interactions, improve their sensory processing and to optimize their understanding of and participation in natural environments.

Native American Heritage Celebration
Saturday, November 12 | 11AM – 6PM
Sunday, November 13 | 10AM–6PM
Celebrate and honor the first people by joining us for our Native American Heritage Celebration! Create artwork in our Art Studio inspired by contemporary Native American artists and enjoy interactive story times highlighting traditional stories from a variety of Native American cultures. Explore some of the local South Florida Nations, both past and present, by participating in hands-on activities. Learn about the patchwork artform, the shells of the Calusa, and more!
Winter Wonderland Exhibit Opening
Saturday, November 19
Enjoy the opening of our new exhibit, open until January 8, 2023. Glide and twirl in your socks on our indoor sock skating rink while learning about the characteristics and qualities of snow. Read about all things winter in our Reading Nook and create artwork inspired by different Holidays Around the World.
Thanksgiving Celebration
Wednesday, November 23
It’s time to give thanks the Museum way! Design a placemat that you can use for the big meal and then run in our Turkey Trot Relay. Create a banner or cardboard box float for your family and show it off in our Museum Thanksgiving Parade at the end of each session!

Every Monday
Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play. Join us every Monday for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.

It’s the Monday before Thanksgiving and the Mini Mondays’ team has prepared a special Fall and Thanksgiving program just for your little ones. Compete in our annual Turkey Trot, prepare your Thanksgiving Day apple sauce during Cooking Play, and watch a theater performance. Come dressed for the season!

Several Northeastern Native communities created toys and dolls using the local resources that their environments could provide. Create your own corn husk doll to see how these playful items were made.
