Nike Swim Miami

Swim Miami presented by Nike, one of the largest and best open water swims in the world, is coming to the shores of Watson Island at the Miami Yacht Club on Saturday, April 9.  In the past, this event has include Olympic medalists and legends such as Gary Hall, Sr., Gary Hall, Jr., Michael Cavic, George Bovell, Ricardo Monasterio, Anthony Ervin, Ed Moses, Nathan Adrian, Robert Strauss, and Tiffany Cohen. These athletes have allowed this event to rise to prominence, in both south Florida and in the worldwide swim community, and many more high-profile athletes are expected for this year’s event. This is your chance to swim amongst the best in the world! Men and women will be competing in The Miami Mile, 4K and 10K swims. For those of you who are beginners or ten years old or under, we will be bringing back the half-mile swim again this year.

Whether you are a swimmer, a proud parent or simply a fan of this incredible sport, Swim Miami presented by Nike is where you need to be for a family-friendly environment full of world-class competition and some fun in the sun. One of the easiest places in the world on the eyes, Watson Island’s beauty will offer you new views this year that will take your breath. Swim Miami presented by Nike has never been hosted at a better location.

In case you can’t make it out to the event this year, new for the first time ever Swim Miami will be shown live via webcast at http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.tv. No matter where you are, you will be able to track the action and know everything that is happening, as it is happening.

Swim Miami presented by Nike, brought back to life in 2005 by Miami Sports International, is an open water swim championship that allows swimmers of all ages and abilities to swim alongside some of the world’s top athletes.

Swimmer registration is available at the event site 1001 Macarthur Causeway from 12PM -6PM at the Miami Yacht Club on Friday April 8 and check in will be from 6AM – 9:45AM on Saturday April 9. You may also register online at www.swimmiami.net. All participants will get a Finisher Nike Swim Miami Race Patch for their efforts.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will go to the H2O’s Foundation, Helping Others Swim, helpingothers2swim.org. The H2O’s Foundation will help eliminate drowning in south Florida aiming to teach thousands of children in urban developing communities. All money is used to teach children how to swim, and provide them career opportunities in aquatics.
